As we step into a new year, many of us are thinking about how we want to feel: stronger, more balanced, more energized, and more present. At the Metropolitan Club, wellness isn’t about a single resolution or routine. It’s about creating space for movement, recovery, and self-care in ways that fit seamlessly into everyday life.

From group fitness classes and personalized training sessions to moments of restoration in the spa, the club offers a variety of wellness amenities designed to support every goal and every season of life. But what truly brings these offerings to life is the community behind them.

We’re highlighting a few of our members who generously shared how they use the club’s wellness features, what keeps them motivated, and the moments that have made their wellness journeys meaningful.

 

Member Spotlight: Deborah Beck

How She Uses the Club’s Wellness Amenities:

My main reason for joining the club was the fitness offerings. I love my cabana, where else can you get that kind of real estate in San Francisco? Having the cabana leaves no excuse to work out or swim in the private pool. Never having to wait to share a lane is such a luxury!

Favorite Wellness Offering:

My favorite part of the many fitness offerings at the club is the teams like Bay to Breakers and the new Met Triathlon Club. The focus is on fun, supportive sports training, open to all levels, ages, and goals.  

A Meaningful Wellness Moment:

My favorite memory is Bay to Breakers 2025, perfect weather, great team, we made it a weekend event! Can't wait to start training with my fellow club members for the 2026 events!

 

Member Spotlight: Kirsten Vernon

How She Uses the Club’s Wellness Amenities:

The club’s fitness and spa amenities were a big draw for me. After trying a variety of classes and schedules, I’ve found a routine that really works—though I could always do more! Even though I’m not a morning person, I love the Monday 7:00 am HIIT class. Alyona is a terrific instructor, and we spend enough time talking and laughing that the workout flies by. I also love the Saturday morning AquaFit class; the music makes it a lot of fun.

Favorite Wellness Offering:

My favorite spa treatments are facials and eyebrow tints. I have a standing monthly appointment with Deborah Pannier, and my daughter even visits her when she’s home from school breaks. Deborah is truly talented with skin of all ages and types. You will not regret it!

A Meaningful Wellness Moment: The Club truly offers a fitness or wellness opportunity for everyone. No matter your interest or skill level, there is a place to participate, have fun, and feel healthy.

 

Member Spotlight: Tessa Roth

How She Uses the Club’s Wellness Amenities:

My main use of the club’s wellness amenities is the gym. Having an all-women’s space with so much room and equipment is truly incredible. I’ve never had to wait for a machine or struggle to find space for my mat the way I have at other gyms.

Favorite Wellness Offering:

My favorite piece of equipment is the pull-up bar.

A Meaningful Wellness Moment:

This year, I achieved my very first pull-up! It’s something I’ve been working toward for a while, and it’s easily my favorite wellness memory at the club. At other gyms, I’ve been too nervous to attempt pull-ups in front of so many people—but at the Met Club, I know everyone is supportive and non-judgmental. I’m excited to take advantage of even more wellness offerings in the coming year, especially those that help me connect with other members.

Favorite Wellness Offering:

The Women on Weights class, led by Kara, has been transformative. She brings years of expertise to the floor, ensuring we lift safely and train for long-term health. Kara has a gift for adapting every movement to individual needs and is truly invested in our progress.

How She Uses the Club’s Wellness Amenities:

When I first joined the Women on Weights class, I was looking for a way to continue improving my strength program. What I found was a community. Every week, a group of women of all ages and fitness levels gather for thirty minutes of intentional, focused work.

A Meaningful Wellness Moment:

The workout doesn’t end when the weights go down. Many of us have become dear friends and often head straight to dinner at the Club afterward to get our protein in and catch up. It’s become the highlight of my week! A perfect blend of longevity-focused training and genuine connection.

 

Member Spotlight: Tanya Welch

How She Uses the Club’s Wellness Amenities:

I’ve tried everything! When I first became a member, my top priority was learning how to play pickleball. I loved the semi-private monthly sessions—I learned so much faster, and the ladies are great at organizing pickup play. More recently, my focus has been getting back in shape. I’m working on building muscle and burning fat, so I’m in the gym four to five days a week, lifting weights and doing cardio.

Favorite Wellness Offering:

I really love Kara’s Women on Weights (WOW) Wednesday evening class. It’s a quick 30-minute session that I can usually squeeze in before dinner events, and it’s incredibly motivating. Seeing petite ladies lift heavy weights has pushed me to challenge myself more. I also love the 70-minute facial with Deborah—she’s wonderful about fitting me in for a Saturday appointment, even outside the regular schedule.

A Meaningful Wellness Moment:

My fondest memory is being part of the “original three” who started the evening Women on Weights class. We’ve all become great friends and still manage to squeeze in some girl fitness talk during the workout!
