I’ve found myself working from the Club fairly regularly.
When you see private clubs portrayed in movies or television, people are often reading, writing, working, or simply spending time together. The Metropolitan Club is no different—it’s a welcoming place to be productive, not just for social activities like bridge or meetings.
In a time when “third spaces” are becoming harder to find, the Club offers something increasingly rare: a quiet, comfortable, and beautiful place to focus.
Here are a few ways I make the most of working from the Club:
A short walk can boost cognition, and the 10-minute walk from Muni helps increase daily movement. On occasion, I’ll treat myself to a ride home.
The front desk team is always accommodating—just call or ask in person to reserve a card room. I’ve also worked from Café Met, the Tapestry Room over lunch, and even the Lampen Lounge.
For those looking for a more casual, flexible workspace, the Met Café offers an ideal setting to settle in for a few hours of productivity. Members can enjoy tea service, high-top tables equipped with convenient charging ports for easy connectivity, and round tables for more space.
Having a small kit in your cabana or locker—chargers, a lap desk, or ergonomic supports—makes it easy to work comfortably without carrying everything back and forth.
Plus you can easily get ready for an upcomig event, a workout session, or maybe trip to our spa or a dip in the pool.
Whether it’s coffee or tea in the morning or a pitcher of iced tea for the afternoon, staying hydrated is key. Lunch in the Tapestry Room is a highlight—simple, elevated, and far more enjoyable than working from a typical café.
One of the biggest perks of working from the Club is easy access to fitness. Step away for a class, a quick workout, or even some light movement to reset your energy.
After a productive day, transitioning into dinner—whether in the dining room for an event or at the bar—is an easy way to extend your time at the Club. Bring a book, relax, and enjoy the space.
For deep focus, booking a guest room can be a surprisingly effective
Working from the Club offers a refreshing change of scenery and a unique blend of productivity and comfort. It’s a luxury I truly appreciate—and one I look forward to whenever I need a place to focus.
